Twitter

The first genre that I chose to spread the ecofeminsit message is a Twitter account (@ecofeminism7). Since the intended audience of this project is current and aspiring ecofeminits, many of which are of the younger generation, I figured that making a social media account would be the most direct way to reach these individuals. Since Twitter is a microblogging platform, this genre allows me to spread information about the ecofeminist community in short and concise messages. Thus, the audience possesses the ability to quickly and easily gain knowledge about the movement since the information is limited to 280 characters. Additionally, Twitter proved to be an interactive platform in which my followers can be actively involved in polls, conversations, and the account in general.

Flyer

The second genre that I decided to choose for this project was a flyer. Living on a college campus, flyers are circulated on an everyday basis in order to spread a message, create awareness, or advertise. I decided to create a flyer that spread awareness of the ecofeminist movement and circulated my other genres as well. A huge pro of creating a visually appealing flyer is that it will grasp the attention of anyone passing and retain the attention of those individuals that are interested. Since my intended audience is college students interested in the ecofeminist movement, I decided to choose visual elements that further exaggerate my message and make my intention clear upon first look. These flyers were placed in dorm halls all around campus to spread awareness of ecofeminism and hopefully peak the curiosity of any individual that passes it.

Blog

This blog is the same one from project two and the original genre that I based both the Twitter and flyer on. This blog is the basis for all of the  preceding genres and provides the most information about the ecofeminist movement. In regards to the content of the blog, during project three mostly all of the information contained within the blog remained exactly the same. However, another tab was added that is titled "more info" and under here is both of the other two genres.

Project Three Reflection

Project three proved to be the most difficult of all of the projects due to the real world application of it. Project three required the production of three different genres and the circulation of them within the community. The first genre was our project two and we were required to choose two more genres that circulated the same message of the blog. The two genres that I chose to do were a Twitter account and a flyer. From the entirety of this project, I learned the importance of composing within different genres, as each genre has a specific way of circulating itself and is displayed in its own unique manner to deliver information. Additionally, I had to overcome my lack of knowledge about the circulation of information and learned the importance of targeting a particular audience. For example, since my intended audience was both current and aspiring ecofeminists, both of which are of the younger generation, I decided that a social media account and a flyer posted around a college campus would be the most effective modes of circulation.

I translated my research to my intended audiences by targeting their demographics and making my genres both visually appealing and easy to understand. My flyer was circulated around campus in different dorm halls in order to grab the attention of college students and individuals whose beliefs may align with the ecofeminist movement. Additionally, the visual characteristics of my flyer were based around the messages of ecofeminism and are color coded to attract anyone who would be interested in the topic. As for the Twitter account, the name of the twitter handle as well as the content of the tweets were targeted towards my audience and would make the account easily accessible to anyone who was interested in learning more. I revised my blog slightly because I wanted to add a tab that would include both the flyer and a direct access to the Twitter account, that way any visitors can get access to all of the content I have ever released.

For this project not only did I learn an abundance about writing in different genres, but I learned lots about the importance of circulating information correctly. Prior to this assignment, I had never created a flyer nor an educational Twitter account. The flyer took a bit of time and patience to correctly organize and create, however, I am extremely proud of the outcome of my hard work. Additionally, the Twitter account was easier to make but definitely harder to circulate and gain a following upon. I decided to circulate the flyer by posting it inside dorm halls in order to minimize the likelihood of it getting lost or damaged by environmental factors. As for the Twitter account, once I began tweeting and following accounts with similar values, I began to get a following as individuals recognized that I was spreading awareness of the ecofeminist movement. Overall, this project was very valuable as it taught us the importance of circulating information in a correct manner and it gave us the upper hand for the future as we learned the real world value of creating and sharing in different genres.
