Ecological Feminism, or Ecofeminism, is both a political and philosophical movement that parallels the beliefs of veganism and feminism in order to portray the simultaneous domination of the female gender and that of non-human animals. Ecofeminism is a theoretical framework that outwardly portrays the interconnectedness of oppression and exploitation between women and animals (Walker). Thus, feminism can be defined as the advocacy of women's rights and the perpetual fight for the liberation of females. Whereas, veganism is defined as a lifestyle that omits any and all animal products and rejects the exploitation of animals. In conjunction, both veganism and feminism are combined to create the movement of ecofeminism which will be explored and dissected within this blog.

A main facet in the ideological standpoint of ecofeminists is that it is important to educate the masses about the position of women and their parallel qualities to the suffering animals in the surrounding world. Ecofeminists exemplify the necessity to give voice to the voiceless and to completely and utterly understand the current state of animal agriculture. Ecofeminists want to illustrate to the world around them how this isn't only hurting women, but rather destroying the ecosystem around us. In reference to this movement, what we know about certain animals can aide in perpetuating our knowledge about the people that surround us on an everyday basis (Gruen). Therefore, abiding by an ecofeminist lifestyle means that you fight for the end of human and animal exploitation and are fighting for the gaining of freedom and rights for all living beings.
